Because of its relationship with the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Science, the CBMI is able to offer educational opportunities in Biomedical Informatics that serve the health science research community of the University of California, Irvine. In behalf of this objective a number of faculty members from ICS have agreed to serve as affiliated faculty.
The affiliated faculty will be responsible for identifying academic courses and professional workshops in Biomedical Informatics that will serve the education and training needs of the UCI health science research community. It is expected that, because of their direct relationship with the ICTS, the affiliated faculty will be confronted with meaningful computing problems that will require innovative solutions which will be publication-worthy. In addition, they will develop opportunities for ICS graduate students to become directly involved in providing cutting-edge solutions to real problems faced by UCI research scientists and health care professionals.
