REDCap
UC Irvine is a member of the Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap) software consortium project led by Dr. Paul Harris of the Vanderbilt University Medical Center. REDCap is a web-based data management application that allows investigators to create a customized individual database that nevertheless preserves compatibility with other projects. The prototype-to-production development cycle offers investigators maximum flexibility and rapid changes in defining data for later collection and analysis. The rapid development cycle (days, rather than weeks or months of setup and programming time) make the methodology valuable for a wide variety of researchers, regardless of scientific hypothesis or research staff computer expertise. The national REDCap group meets online weekly. Joseph Wu is the CBMI representative on this group and will provide the necessary expertise to implement REDCap in projects at UC Irvine.
