Educational & Training Programs The Research Education, Training, and Career Development programs of UC Irvine’s Institute for Clinical and Translational Science (ICTS) expands our campus’s vigorous network of clinical and basic science research, permeating the existing programs with the essence of the translational framework while introducing new and exciting initiatives for sustained interactions beyond individual classrooms, laboratories, and clinics. Consequently, our training program is built on a talented faculty with a broad range of interests in translational research and abundant experience in training and education, and extends the reach of a variety of nationally renowned, multidisciplinary training programs in the College of Health Sciences and throughout the UC Irvine campus. The UC IrvineCrossing Boundaries Clinical and Translational Research curriculum serves as the main portal for research education and training within the translational framework for the College of Health Sciences, encompassing Medicine, Nursing Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Public Health. In addition, under the Crossing Boundaries umbrella, we include health science related initiatives from the School of Biological Sciences (e.g., Systems Biology), the School of Information and Computer Sciences (Biomedical Informatics and Statistics); and Engineering and Physical Sciences (Biomedical Engineering and Clinical Technologies). Our plans include a P redoctoral Research Training Program (T32) , Mentored Career Development Program (K12), and training in ethics and the responsible conduct of research, with particular emphasis on how to address the particular issues that are associated with translational research frameworks. We have an innovative plan to recruit women and minorities. |
