Creating a Learning Health System Research Plan

California State Referendum Proposition 3 (Children’s Hospital Bond Act) has allocated $30 million to UCI Health. The monies are earmarked for California children’s hospitals to improve access and care to underinsured and underserved children in our region. ICTS has been tasked to develop the research agenda for a new UCI Center for Comprehensive Child Healthcare, a medical home providing single point of access care for children with chronic diseases and complex conditions. Following our initial LHS workshop in February 2018, we began the process of developing LHS research plans for two specific projects focused on 1) optimizing care for children with complex conditions and 2) improving care for seniors suffering from abuse. The latter involves a collaboration with UCI’s Center of Excellence in Elder Abuse and Neglect. The process to develop LHS research in these two areas is shown above
