ICTS Logo Contest
The Institute for Clinical and Translational Science (ICTS) (www.icts.uci.edu) is requesting applications for the creation of a logo that represents the concept of clinical translational science.
A description of the goals of the ICTS:
The ICTS makes determined efforts to harness the energy of loosely interconnected hubs of biomedical research excellence and transform them into an outstanding, fully integrated home for clinical translational science. Building on our existing strengths ranging from the molecular immunology of exercise in children to the use of robots in the rehabilitation of brain-injured people, we created the Institute for Clinical Translational Science (ICTS). The ICTS has wide authority to generate research, contribute to faculty career development, provide translational science tools, and initiate training programs. We adopted a shared leadership model with our new programs in Nursing and Public Health, and kept administrative structure lean and flexible. The ICTS nurtured strong ties among campus-based informatics scientists and hospital-based information technology leaders sparking the creation of the Center for Biomedical Informatics. The ICTS stimulates novel collaborations, such as a team of clinicians and chemists (among them the Nobel Laureate F. Sherwood Rowland) to study rare gases in exhaled breath that may detect metabolic processes and disease. We brought into the matrix of the ICTS technology-development centers like the Beckman Laser Institute (a nationally renowned bio-photonic research enterprise), thereby gaining access to a toolbox of technologies for innovation. The ICTS invested in participant resources like vans and telemedicine so that we could reach out to our diverse community, and study, for example, how conditions like asthma and obesity are impacted by health care disparities. We created research networks with local physicians, partnered with community groups in a first ever university-wide workshop to honor leaders of community-based participatory research, and conceived of PEER (Participant Experience Enhancement in Research), a program that views research volunteers as partners in the process of discovery. Finally, we bound the ICTS together with Crossing Boundaries, a set of courses, outreach, experiential learning, and degree programs that tackles the most timely and difficult of issues such as the science of team science, all in our effort to create a motivated new set of translational scientists prepared for the next generation of clinical discovery.
The logos should meet the following criteria:
- Formats accepted: EPS, JPG, TIF, PSD
- Resolution of at least 300 dpi is required
- Maximum size is 8” wide X 10” Tall
- Incorporate the phrases 'ICTS' and 'Institute for Clinical and Translational Science'
