| Mentoring: Dr. Ogunseitan is an exceptional mentor who has received UC Irvine's Excellence in Teaching Award (2007); the Distinguished Mentoring Award (Associated Graduate Students of UC Irvine, 2007); and the Professor of the Year Award (UC Irvine School of Social Ecology, 2002). He is the director of the UC Irvine Master of Public Health degree program and, as director of the TSR&TP lead campus component, is responsible for training and funding seven doctoral fellows per year. Dr. Ogunseitan has had 10 PhD graduates, 5 MS graduates, and 6 post-docs. Among his trainees are Dr. Simon Dagenais, Assistant Professor of Epidemiology and Community Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa, and Dr. Mariza Jauregui, Assistant Professor of Public Health, The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. He is mentoring 5 PhD candidates currently. |

| Research: Dr. Ogunseitan conducts translational interdisciplinary research in environmental health science, with emphasis on the distribution and exposure to risk factors that contribute to a population's burden of disease. Work in his laboratory includes the characterization of toxic components of consumer products and symptoms associated with long-term exposures. His research is instrumental in the development of national and international policies in exposure and risk assessment, and in understanding gene-environment interactions attributed to toxic substances. Dr. Ogunseitan received the President's Award from the American Society for Civil Engineering in 2006. |
