ICTS Home Welcome to the ICTS News & Events For the Investigator For the Community Training & Education

The ICTS leadership structure continues the ongoing process of transforming existing research and training activities at UC Irvine into a recognizable, integrated, and flexible home for clinical translational science across the campus and throughout the community. Our principal goal is to ensure that new and existing resources in clinical and translational science are effectively and rapidly matched with the creative energy of UC Irvine basic scientists, clinical investigators, and community partners to improve medical care and public health and to train the next generation of clinical researchers. The ICTS will facilitate the goals of the faculty and of the institution, and pull together all the components of translational research.

UCI ICTS strives to carry out the NIH objectives which include:

  • provide opportunities and resources for original research on novel methods and approaches to translational and clinical science

  • provide the translational technologies and knowledge base for the spectrum of clinical and translational science, including all types and sizes of studies and clinical disciplines
  • integrate translational and clinical science by fostering collaboration between departments and schools of an institution and between institutions and industry
  • provide a point of contact for partnerships with industry, foundations and community physicians as appropriate
  • provide research education, training and career development leading to an advanced degree (Masters or Ph.D.) for the next generation of clinical and translational researchers (including physicians, nurses, dentists, pharmacists, and other allied health professionals)
  • conduct self-evaluation activities and participate in a national evaluation of the CTSA program
