The ICTS presents the winners of the 2nd Annual Children At Play Photo Contest.
When did child’s play get so complicated? Sometimes it seems kids can’t run around the block anymore unless they hire a track coach. And no kicking around that soccer ball without consulting a trainer. When the fun and health benefits of frolic are lost to the seriousness of it all, the results can be alarming. According to the National Center for Health Statistics a large population of U.S. children are considered overweight. Obesity contributes to diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hip and knee injury, and more. And obese adolescents often become obese as adults. There’s no time to lose! It’s time to put the “play” back in “child’s play.” The Orange County Register, Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) and UC Irvine’s Pediatric Exercise Research Center present the Second Annual “Children at Play” photo contest.
